Emergency Room Errors - The Silent Killer
When you entrust your health to a healthcare provider, you expect to be treated appropriately. Unfortunately, medical negligence can and does occur everyday. A medical malpractice case can be based on medical care provided by a range of medical providers, including physicians, nurses, and hospitals.
The Emergency Department (ED), sometimes termed the Emergency Room (ER) provides initial treatment to patients with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, some of which are life-threatening and require immediate attention. ER's are the most stressful worksites in the healthcare profession. As a result, errors in hospital Emergency Rooms are a common tragedy. Understaffed hospitals, ill-equipped emergency rooms, poorly trained staff, and a stressful atmosphere all contribute to fatal errors when dealing with patients requiring emergency treatment. This is particularly true when attempting to treat patients with such life threatening conditions such as heart attack, pulmonary embolism, brain hemorrhage and acute aneurism.
