All is not doom and gloom.  The US News and World Report has published it’s Honor Roll for it’s Best Hospital Lists.  According to the Report, a place on the Best Hospitals Honor Roll is reserved for medical centers demonstrating “unusually high expertise across multiple specialties” and scoring at or near the top of their survey in at least six of 16 specialties.

Of the 5,000 hospitals evaluated, 17 made the Honor Roll for 2011-12.(Honor Roll standing was determined by the total number of Honor Roll points across all 16 specialties).  If you are fortunate enough to be located near one of these institutions you can breathe a little easier.
